With a slimmed-down roster and lots of productions providing 2 for 1 tickets through the annual Broadway Week promotion, Broadway field workplace was down 24% for the week ending January 22, with the 23-show whole at $25,835,362. Attendance of 204,847 was off 17% from the earlier week when 29 exhibits had been on the boards.
Regardless of the general drop, the share of seats stuffed remained at about 93% of capability, in step with the earlier week. Common ticket value was down significantly although – these 2-for-1s kicking in – with the typical value of $126 down a full $10 from the earlier week.
The annual Broadway Week winter promotion (which truly lasts a number of weeks) appears to have had an influence – 18 of the 23 exhibits had been at 90% of capability or extra, whilst ticket costs fell. Filling all their seats had been MJ (grossing $1,654,435) and The Phantom of the Opera ($2,227,185).
The only real previewing present, Photos From House starring Nathan Lane, Danny Burstein and Zoë Wanamaker, offered about 92% of its seats at Studio 54, grossing $413,288 with a $79.69 common ticket. Opening evening is February 9.
Season up to now, Broadway has grossed $1,062,714,005, with whole attendance of 8,172,023 at about 87% of capability.
